The electoral process ran from Monday, 28^th May to Thursday, 14^th June. In the first week i.e. from the 28^th to 31^st May, we conducted the proposals for the 7 chaplaincy posts i.e. the chairperson, vice chairperson, coordinator, treasurer, secretary, vice secretary and the instrument manager. After the proposals, the committee met and drafted the ballot papers with two names per post. On Monday, 4^th June, the committee met all the 14 individuals whose names were proposed for the various posts. This meeting was necessary to avoid situations where people are elected against their wish and therefore fail to give their best. Afterwards, the committee met and redrafted the ballot papers with the response of the proposed persons put into consideration.

ELECTIONS 2018/2019

The committee printed 60 ballots for each of the 7 posts at a cost of Ksh. 300. The elections happened on Wednesday June 6^th after the 4.00pm mass. Each of the members present was given 7 ballot papers for the seven posts. After they had made their choices, the papers were collected by seven members of the committee, each collecting for one of the posts. The counting of votes was done immediately afterwards in front of the members. About 54 people participated in the exercise.

YCS GROUP ELECTIONS

The elections were to be conducted after the respective group’s meetings from Monday, June 12^th to Friday, June 15^th as indicated in the table below. However, Friday being a public holiday, the Focolare elections were held on Thursday.

The elections were done post by post starting with the top-most. Once several names were proposed, voting was done by raising of hands. The simple majority rule was used.

SCCs ELECTIONS 2018/2019

The small Christian communities conducted their elections on Thursday after the groups’ elections. Though the communities are free to elect any number of officials as they may deem necessary, only the chairperson is a member of the chaplaincy management committee.
