The Chaplaincy of the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) is proud to uphold its longstanding tradition of organizing an annual charitable activity, demonstrating God's love and compassion for the less fortunate.

This year, 2024, the event was meaningfully aligned with All Souls' Day, a day of great significance within the Catholic Church, dedicated to remembering all the faithful departed.

The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at St. Peter Clavers Church at 7:00 AM on November 2, 2024. Following the Mass, participants journeyed to the Bishop Opera Luigi Locati Children’s Home, which provides shelter and care to 50 children ranging in age from 2 to 18 years. Upon arrival, the group received a warm welcome from both the staff and the children of the home.

The visit was marked by a series of heartfelt and engaging activities designed to provide joy and practical assistance to the home, including:

  • Cooking and serving nutritious meals to the children.
  • Assisting in washing utensils and cleaning the surroundings of the home.
  • Braiding hair for the girls, enhancing their joy and self-esteem.
  • Engaging in various games and sharing uplifting stories with the children, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Each member of the chaplaincy introduced themselves to the children, creating a personal connection that enriched the experience for all involved. The event concluded with an inspiring address by Stephen Magoka, the chaplaincy moderator, who spoke on behalf of the group, emphasizing the spiritual significance of service and community.

Special thanks were expressed to:

  • The members of the Chaplaincy for their heartfelt contributions and active involvement in the visit.
  • The Small Christian Communities (SCCs) for their steadfast support and efforts in fundraising, which were crucial to the success of the event.
  • Mr. Thomas and the entire staff at Bishop Opera Luigi Locati Children’s Home for their warm hospitality and cooperation during the visit.
  • The Almighty God, whose guidance and blessings were felt profoundly throughout the day, ensuring the event's success.
